news of the record first broke back in december, when omar-s, real name alex omar smith, contributed a three-hour mix for ra’s 500th podcast. the lp will be smith’s fifth full-length release, and arrives three years after his most recent album, 2013’s thank you for letting me be myself. like almost all of the detroit artist’s catalogue so far, the best lands on smith’s own fxhe records. it comprises 11 tracks, featuring collaborations with fellow motor city acts such as norm talley, ob ignitt and kyle hall.

the second of two brilliant eps produced by merweyn saunder and eric lewis. although this was released under a different name, they were actually all done in the set of sessions that also gave us the previous release, the virgo four ep. as far as the duo were concerned m.e. was their name and virgo was imposed on them by someone at trax. the two eps were later conjoined and released as an album in the uk radikal under the name virgo. it was re released in 2010 by rush hour.

in april of this year, donato dozzy took a set of mouth harps back to his parents house in the italian countryside and set about exploring the possibilities of that most basic of instruments. the mouth harp had been calling to dozzy ever since childhood, when he had discovered the marranzano on a holiday in sicily with this parents at the tail end of the 1970s. almost four decades later, dozzy had begun to see in this peculiar, ancient sound, the roots of the music hed been making and playing in clubs all these years. it was time to find out how far he could trace it all back. the loud silence is the result of those explorations, an accompanied deep-dive into childhood memory, social history and the roots of psychedelia.

the sylvan structure ep is a debut for anja zaube and het at the same time. the sound of this untitled 4-track ep is driven by the vision of deep-dark sonical forests: a 1is taking the dancer from the floor to a far away soundscape. on a 2 anja experiments on the ambient side of sound. raising and boosting until it all sheds. b 1 is definitely located on a forest glade, where you can find the hope, that is needed. the glitchy sound of b 2 together with its’ catchy main pattern is combining abstraction with groove.

cosmos 2043 is a wild, science fiction-themed library lp by french synthesizer wizard bernard fvre. released in 1977, fvre imagines a far future populated by space-age electronics and lush, vivid melody. this edition has also been treated to a remaster from the original tapes by fvre. the vinyl lp includes a download code.
